The University's

Vision, Mission, and Goals

The vision at American Virtual University of Integrative Medicine (AVUIM) is shared global efforts for freedom—of thought, hopes, and action. Specifically, it is to assure freedom of access to undistorted information about toxicities of foods, environments, and chronic anger in the populations of the world.

The future of humankind is not a zero-sum game. Humankind is under three pervasive, persistent and pernicious threats: (1) overpopulation; (2) planetary climatic chaos and permeation of environments by incrementally toxic chemicals; and (3) deep disappointments and rising anger at the worsening conditions of economy, education, and health. Authenticity and ethics in information and education must be considered as the cornerstones of any efforts to cope with these existential threats. These crucial characteristics are sadly lacking in most dialogues on the subject. The vision of Wiki-Medical is to counter the nefarious governmental and corporate influences with authentic information and education about time-honored empirical knowledge, as well as about the explosive growth of knowledge with modern technologies.

The Mission

In medical education, there has been a most reprehensible neglect of the core issues of nutrition, environment, and mental health. It is a travesty that education in these areas is controlled by the medical-industrial complex. Specifically, information is presented by those who do not practice nutritional and environmental medicine, and are heavily funded by governmental and corporate entities. To this purpose, Wiki-Medical publishes articles only by educators and teachers with extendsive research and clinical experience in their respective fields and who think independently.

Good health is a right as well as a responsibility. The University is committed to this fundamental truth and promotes it with robust efforts in all matters of policy and academic work. In acute illness, the right of personal health means access to compassionate, ethical, safe, and effective treatments, pursuing the best in the art and science of healing practices. Evidently, many aspects of this right need to be assured by the society. In chronic absence of health, the responsibility of personal health means:

1. Understanding what health is and what it is not;

2. Knowledge of actions that preserve health and those that jeopardize it; and

3. Willingness to apply that understanding and knowledge and to be responsible for personal health.

None of the above can be effectively addressed by legislative or political approaches. So, Wiki-Medical fosters this personal and societal philosophy in its learning processes. There are two other tenets of Wiki-Medical’s Mission:

1. All writers and presenters must conduct themselves with high ethical standards, without subservience to one or more schools of medicine; and

2. All pernicious influences of the medical-corporate complex on the practice of healing arts must be vigorously opposed.

The Goals

To establish a worldwide non-profit educational program in the fields of nutrition, environment, and self-regulation. Wiki-Medical encourages voluntary participation from educators, teachers, parents, and interested citizens in general to support the vision and mission of Wiki-Medical. Specifically, the University seeks ideas and counsel to:

1. Protect the curriculum for education in nutrition, environment, and mental health from all commercial profiteering influences. To this purpose, all academic programs will be established by an all-voluntary body of experienced researchers and clinicians who are completely free of the nefarious influence of the medical-corporate complex. Specifically, the faculty must have of a minimum ten-years experience in clinical nutritional and environmental medicine and earn at least fifty percent of their income from the practice of these arts.

2. Organize a national program of education in schools and colleges in nutrition, environment, stress, and global resources instructed by teachers and open to parents and grandparents. Specifically, the teachers will be trained to teach the curriculum in weekly classes, using age-appropriate materials.

3. Organize a program to provide free-of-cost nutritious meals (breakfast and lunch) for all students in the nation's schools and colleges.

The Trustees of the University serve pro-bono.
